You may be self-aware and capable of finding solutions to problems in everyday life, while struggling more behind the scenes.
Perhaps you appear to be holding everything together, with your life looking fine or even great to observers, and yet struggling more on the inside. Maybe you are finding it difficult to put your finger on certain problems, causing continued rumination on issues that you would like to move on from, or perhaps you are experiencing difficulties in family, friend or work relationships, or a sense that important needs have been going unmet.
As a counsellor, I often work with people who find themselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious or depressed, and are looking for help in exploring and understanding their inner world.
Working from welcoming counselling rooms in Hanover, Brighton, as well as online, I provide a space where you can allow your more difficult feelings. Together, we will focus on what is happening for you right now, and examine how your past may be affecting your present.
My style is warm, empathic and engaged. I listen closely, let you know my thoughts, and provide gentle challenge when appropriate. If this sounds helpful, please get in touch for an initial conversation.
I am also interested in working with women who are navigating non-traditional paths in parenthood, including solo parenting, co-parenting, or exploring different routes to building a family. Please read on for more information.
Hello, and welcome to Thinking Space - my name is Emily. I graduated in 2019 with a PGDip in Integrative Counselling from the University of Greenwich, and am a registered member of the BACP.
I blend different ways of working, drawing from psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. In practice, this looks like us exploring your experiences and their meaning for you, and trying to discern patterns that may be influencing your present-day life. We will also focus on what is happening now - always guided by what feels helpful to you.
My personal experience includes a non-traditional path into parenthood and family life. This gives me an awareness of the emotional complexity that can arise in areas such as solo parenting, co-parenting, and alternative routes to having children. I will always approach your experience with curiosity and care, recognising that your path will be your own.
